Course Description
The main text used in these courses has been compiled by the Hiroo Japanese Center. We have designed this course with an emphasis on Japanese conversation, while at the same time allowing the student to easily master Hiragana, Katakana and 240 Chinese characters (Kanji). For conversation lessons, we have tried to avoid word-by-word memorization, and have instead utilized a unique system enabling logical apprehension and conversation. In particular, in the case of verb conjugation, the course enables students from non-Chinese-character language backgrounds to master and understand all conjugations of all verbs in the least possible time.
While most basic expressions are already acquired in the Beginners course, the students in Intermediate level classes will learn a more natural, idiomatic style of expression. At the same time they will master 585 new Chinese characters, and will develop reading skills as a preparatory stage to acquiring the ability to read newspapers in the Advanced course.
